Amanda Kaplan
Dr. Amanda Kaplan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Working with both adolescents and adults in individual and family psychotherapy, Dr. Kaplan utilizes a compassionate and multimodal approach to assist clients in addressing underlying issues and developing skills to effectively navigate life’s ups and downs. She individualizes psychotherapy in order to meet clients at any and all stages of their healing process. Dr. Kaplan strives to create a safe and supportive space for self-exploration and is passionate about helping people to reach a place of holistic health and confidence.
Dr. Kaplan employs a variety of skills-based approaches (ACT, DBT, CBT) to teach strategies for coping with emotions, improving communication in relationships, and developing a positive self-image. She is trained in Radically-Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT), a new treatment that has been shown to be effective for individuals with Chronic Depression and Anorexia Nervosa. She also offers Family-Based Therapy (FBT), an empirically supported treatment approach for adolescents who have been diagnosed with eating disorders. Dr. Kaplan is trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR, a client-centered modality that focuses on the healing of trauma and strengthening of the individual.
Dr. Kaplan holds a Doctorate and Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Midwestern University. She has clinical experience working with adolescents, adults, and families in the treatment of eating disorders, anxiety, and mood disorders. She has provided individual and group therapy to adolescents and adults in outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial-hospitalization, and residential levels of care. Prior to joining A New Beginning, Dr. Kaplan served as the lead clinician for an adult partial-hospitalization eating disorder program.
Stefanni Peters
Stefanni Peters, LAC is a Licensed Associate Counselor specializing in the treatment of eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Working with both adolescents and adults, Stefanni is passionate about providing a warm and supportive environment, partnering with individuals and families to uncover true potential and lead a life that is meaningful and fulfilling.
Stefanni holds a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University. Working with both adolescents and adults in individual and family psychotherapy Stefanni integrates a variety of skills-based approaches (CBT, ERP, EFT, ACT, DBT) to support clients in addressing both presenting concerns while exploring underlying issues creating insight and progress towards lasting change. Stefanni is trained in Attachment-Focused EMDR, a client-centered modality that focuses on the healing of trauma and strengthening of the individual.
Stefanni’s clinical experience includes working with adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups in outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and partial hospitalization (PHP) levels of care. Prior to joining A New Beginning, Stefanni worked at the IOP and outpatient level with adults and adolescents treating eating disorders, OCD, and social anxiety.
